Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk and RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin Gathered at RTÜK
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Deputy Minister Ayşe Ergezen, Radio and Television Supreme Council President Ebubekir Şahin and both Ministers’ and Supreme Council’ bureaucrats attended the meeting.
Culture and Tourism Minister Ersoy pointed out that the broadcasts of television programs have started to shift to other environments and studies should be addressed in this context. Minister Ersoy, remarking that the developing communication technologies has globalized the perception of culture, emphasized the increased impact of digital media on young people and children. However, Minister Ersoy, saying that the mainstream media still have the power to direct the social values, expressed that “Programmes and series preserving family structure should be supported. At this point, studies should be initiated to implement different methods. Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Selçuk also stressed the need for new regulations for the dissemination of family-friendly programmes, need for the joint work of the Ministry and the Supreme Council for the dissemination of family-friendly series.
President of the Supreme Council Şahin, expressing his gratitude for hosting the Ministers and participants in the Supreme Council, emphasized that the media has a very important for the protection of family and children who are the building blocks of the society. Şahin, underlined the necessity of joint work that Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services and the Supreme Council should carry out.
At the meeting, participants exchanged views on what could be done to protect our social values and Turkish family structure, to reduce violence against women and to protect children from harmful contents.
It was also underlined that the consequences and harmful effects of the mistakes made in the series and television programmes for the sake of the high rating should be evaluated by broadcasters, producers and screenwriters.
Various suggestions and opinions were also expressed in order to increase the quality of the public spots and to increase their quality and to increase their impact on the public.
The meeting ended with the decision taken to maintain the cooperation of the Ministry and the Supreme Council.
