Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said, “Today, we see that violence is being normalised through many media content. We witness the use of a language that justifies the perpetrator’s action regarding violence against women. Violence in particular is not a problem that concerns only women. It is a serious problem that undermines the grounds of society”.

Göktaş attended the 4th Media Meeting Consultation Meeting held in a hotel in Şişli/İstanbul in cooperation with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK).

Delivering a speech at the meeting, Göktaş said that TV series and films are a part of life, thus it is very important and valuable to have mutual consultations on children, women and family issues.

Minister Göktaş stated that Türkiye has come to an extremely remarkable place in the TV series and cinema sector. She also expressed that important breakthroughs were made to solve the problems of the sector under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan throughout this process.

Göktaş noted that through the regulations, the Turkish cinema and TV series sector has enhanced its competitiveness in the international arena day by day. The Minister continued her speech as follows: “Thanks to these breakthroughs, Türkiye is the third largest exporter of TV series in the World after the USA. From France to Asia and the Middle East, from Japan to Latin America, the intensity of interest in Turkish TV series all over the world is a source of pride for us”.

In this respect, Göktaş expressed that those who labour and devote their hearts and souls to the sector, from producers to directors, screenwriters, actors and cameramen, have made a significant contribution. In this period of transition from screen to digital, she also stated that her greatest wish is for Turkish TV series and cinema to reach a much stronger place in the international arena.
